Every tourist season starts with preparation. The difference between an average and excellent host is how ready you are before the first guest arrives.

30 days before — deep cleaning and inspection

Start with a complete deep clean of the entire space. This includes washing curtains and carpets, cleaning behind furniture, washing windows inside and out. Inspect all appliances — AC, water heater, washing machine, fridge. Fix anything imperfect. Guests notice immediately.

Take inventory of bed linens and towels. The rule: minimum 3 sets of linens and 5 sets of towels per bed. Replace anything stained, torn, or faded.

14 days before — photos and listing

If your photos are over a year old — time for new ones. The best time is "golden hour" — one hour after sunrise or before sunset. Open all curtains, turn on all lights, remove personal items.

Update descriptions on all platforms. Add new amenities. Check if prices are competitive — see what neighbors charge.

7 days before — check-in prep

Prepare a welcome package — local coffee or tea, some sweets, a brochure with local tips. Costs €2-3 per guest but earns 5-star reviews.

Test WiFi speed — guests expect at least 20 Mbps. Smart lock? Check batteries. Keys? Make copies.

Day zero — final check

Walk through as if you were the guest. Enter, look around. Does it smell clean? Dust on shelves? All lights working? AC clean?

Place fresh flowers on the table. Sounds small, but guests photograph them for Instagram.
